I'll admit that while I like to think I'm fairly computer savvy compared to the average Joe, I will admit that I might as well be learning English for the first time when it comes to some things. For instance, a friend of mine suggested that I set up this site for RSS feeds. Sounds great! What is it?
I'm working on getting to the bottom of all this, people. I have a basic understanding of why they exist and what they are, but actually applying said application to my blog is another story. It will happen. Just don't ask me when. (I think I got it... Check the left-hand column... I hope those things work!) Thanks for the to-do list, Scotsie! ;o)

Yesterday was my first official real-deal craft show. All-in-all, I think it went very well. Got a good bit of attention and some great feedback, which was tres encouraging. Especially for my photos, which made me very happy. (--insert sappy desire for newer camera here--) It was hot as Hades outside + mass humidity, but there was a good breeze from time to time. I set up right outside the loading door for the Purple Armchair, not knowing that this was prime real estate... About a third of the way into the show, the big garage door gets opened, only to reveal a nice, constant stream of cooler air from their insides, and their bathroom right smack inside the door to boot. Happy, indeed.
Here's a picture of my booth, under our nice new tent. Since we are sans yard, we hadn't set that puppy up before. Needless to say, it took basically the entire set-up time, but was well worth it.
(Like those fancy rounded picture corners? I've been digging them on other people's sites. It's a mild pain in the can to get them that way, but I'm getting much more efficient by the second. Soon, I'll just be out of control with roundedness. Yes, I just went back and re-did all the previous photos. I'm anal like that.)
And, as promised, here are peeks of two new items!
My cute little owlsies, based on a tutorial created from a book of Japanese crafts. I wasn't totally in love with them until I added their little signs, which makes them perfect mantra reminders to sit on your computer or desk. Or use them as a pincusion. Or, as one customer put it, an owl voodoo doll... for all you owl haters out there.
My other project was trying to figure out what to do with the stack of albums that I ended up with from my late grandmother's and father's stash. Record bowls are everywhere, it seems, and none-to-good for the environment, production-wise, so we now have these:
They come with some FABULOUS covers, which I'll save for another story...
After the show, I strolled up the street to this cute little Turkish ice cream and dessert joint we have, which sits inside of a large, two-story, PURPLE house. After some refreshing rainbow sherbet (a scatterbox summertime fave), a hydrating bottle of water, and a hujongous piece of take-home walnut baklava (another year-round fave), I made my way home to pass out. I had a great time doing the show, and can't wait to do more. It will be nice now that all the one-time prep stuff is out of the way and I can focus more on the goods. I'm looking into the September version of the Designer's Downtown Market, and even possibly Chapel Hill's Festifall... Festifall slightly scares the bejeezus out of me, mainly because the site lists that "over 10,000 people are expected to attend". Holy crap.
Have a great rest of weekend and keep cool!
